A very brief bit on Bentworth will try to find out more information.

The Village of Bentworth

About two miles north-west of Alton and ten miles south of Basingstoke you will find the scattered village of Bentworth. The home to St Mary's church, The Star Inn, The Sun Inn (and once the Moon Inn), and St Mary's Primary school.  The Village green which is over looked by The Star Inn was once the site of the village pond, and where stray animals were kept penned until claimed by their owners. An Oak was planted on the green to commemorate the Queens Coronation.
There are a number of interesting building St Mary's Church dating from the 12th century.  Also the home to buildings such as Hall Farm; Mediaeval hall house from the 14th century that used to have it's own Chapel. Penton Cottage: pebble dashed front. Gabled slated roof with tiled ridge. Chimneys each end with timber framing and white painted brick infilling. Only remaining example of symmetrical 17th century style small house, and used to be the police station. Ivalls Cottage formerly "Blundels" a red brick 2 story with thatched roof.
