Bentworth 2007 Beer Garden

12.00 -1.30 the Jon Walsh Band

The Jon Walsh Blues Band is a real blues band! Not a blues-rock band, nor a rock bandDisguised as blues band although we may branch out into the odd jazzier number Occasionally. Saying that, don’t think that we only play the "crying in your beer" kind of blues because we can boogie along with the very best! This band can conjure up all the different colours and moods of the blues – it rocks, boogies, stomps, howls, cries and weeps.

2.00 - 3.30 Funky Dory

Funky Dory is a fusion of Blues, Soul, Funk and Jazz, with a mixture of strong originals and reworked covers – all delivered with skill, professionalism and passion. Founder members include guitar ace Jules Fothergill and Stunning singer Lorna Reilly

5.45 - 7.00 John Crampton

"We’ve put together a line up of three of the finest acoustic players in punk rock blues in the world today. First up is John Crampton, one of only about two members of the British Blues old guard we'd give the time of day to! John's incredible, he takes to the stage with nothing more than a National Steel guitar, a harp and miked up stomp box and then let’s rip." The Spitz, London

7.30 – 9.00 The Guv’nors

.....Hokum wants to get funky and funky is exactly what it gets......underlying it all is the blues. But, whatever was thrown in the pot it’s come out all funked up. What the music isn’t, is slavish or servile. And it sure ain’t sitting do down........’

He’s a notable songwriter and arranger, with many published songs to his credit.

Robin formed the Bibi Band in 1996. Having 'paid his dues' working as guitarist for other artists and bands he decided to embark on a solo project, born out of his love of the blues.

Driven by his band The Worx, which powerfully melds the Blues of Chicago and Reggae of Jamaica, he will rock you with favourites like "Wind Cries Mary" and roll you with his dub workout of the classic "Need Your Love So Bad", which has had airplay from Paul Jones. He'll also have you dancing and singing along to his own superb songs, many of which beg to be covered by established artis

8.30 – 10.00 Five Field Holler with Janet Gabriel

Five Field Holler are well known to the Star Inn as they have run the jam session here for a couple of years, expect a great set of thumping blues funk with great guitar, keyboard bass rounded of with one of the best drummers I have seen. To top that there will be some great guest vocals from Janet Gabriel. Enjoy!

2.30 - 4.00 Michael Burke

"Some of the craziest acoustic guitar playing I’ve ever seen... The man has such quick fingers that just as you thought you knew the tune he was playing he'd plough into something else. This was a guitarist you couldn't take your eyes off."

"You scare the shit out of me. I'm going to go home and practice!" Ruddy Byers "The Specials"

4.30 - 5.00 Simon Gregory

Acoustic novice Simon gives his first solo performance in public. He plays regularly at the Star Inn Jam and I have every confidence that he will fill his slot with an interesting and professional set.

5.30 - 7.00 Andy Broad & Matt Beckwith

Taking inspiration from the great delta players such as Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, Son House and Mississippi John Hurt, he combines their raw syncopation with the sounds of Chicago (e.g. Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf) and the modern song writing approach of the likes of Robert Cray welding the whole into a powerful music for the modern day
