The 8th Bentworth Spaghetti and Jelly Baby Tower Building Competition (World Championships) took place on 20th November 2010

8 teams of up to 4 members took part

Start time - about 19:50, End Time 20:00

1st - Caz 'n Dave - 172cm (Team members: Caroline, David, Shaun and Juliet)

2nd - French Connection - 119cm (Team members: Martin Hyde, David Phypers and Nick Pearson)

3rd - Dodgy Towers - 115cm (Team members: Ben Dunne, Carol West and Tony Doidge)

4th - Canary Dwarf - 81cm (Team members: Matt and Kevin)

5th - Towering Inferno - 71cm (Team members: Bill McEvoy and Jack McEvoy)

6th - Winds of Change - 58cm (Team members: Steve Woods and Ernie (with Sally as Health and Safety officer))

7th - Leaning Tower of Bentworth - 25cm (Team members: John Mardell and Frank (with Kate missing!))

8th - Danny's Disasters - 14cm (Team members: Danny, Cindy and Terry (for 10mins until gets pissed off and drunk!))

French Connection - 1st measure at 21:25 - 119cm, 2nd measure not completed or counted as collapsed under weight of egg during measurement at 22:00 - 205cm

Dodgy Towers - 1st measure at 21:43 - 115cm, 2nd measure attempted at 22:00 but collapsed under weight of egg before measurement could be taken (but higher than 1st)

Canary Dwarf - 1st measure at 21:50 - 56cm, 2nd measure at 21:55 - 75cm, 3rd measure at 22:00 - 81cm

Towering Inferno - 1st measure at 21:05 - 71cm

How high can you build a tower from just spaghetti and Jelly Babies? Don’t know? Why not enter the Bentworth Spaghetti Building Contest and win money, a drink and the title of Bentworth’s Spaghetti Tower Champion?

The rules are simple, with a foundation not exceeding an A4 sheet of paper; you must build a tower from just Spaghetti and Jelly Babies. Use the spaghetti for the struts and the Jelly Babies to join the spaghetti ‘beams’ together.

But it’s not that easy!

The construction will have to support and take the weight of a hard-boiled egg!

Who ever builds the highest tower that withstands the weight of the egg will become Bentworth’s Spaghetti Tower Champion.  

You may build as many towers as you like but you can only be measured three time in all.

Enter as a team of 3 or 4, £10  per team (includes building materials)
and clearing the mess up!
