The Third
Bentworth Spaghetti and Jelly Baby tower building championships
Were held on
October 15th 2005 and all building plots were once again sold weeks before
the event. Teams this year Consisted of regulars Woods Wonders, French
Farce and Weenie's Wobblers, new faces at this years event were Towering
Inferno, General Franco and Wobbly Bottoms. The big Surprise was the withdrawal
of Stockdale Construction after a dispute over appearance money and the
use of an inferior spaghetti.

Weenies
Wobblers (left) who were definitely short of a Weenie or two, started of
in very relaxed style using what seem to be a boxed pylon method (could
be interesting later)

Towering
Inferno were using the Standard Pylon method and all seemed
calm and relaxed at this early stage

General Franco
caused the first controversy of this years event by seemingly calling
expert builder Don Hearne for construction advice, When questioned over
the allegations Mr. Hearne said "I was simply asking Mr. Franco
not to use the black jelly babies as they were my favorites"

Woods Wonders (right) were
lacking on team members in fact there was only one, with one on the way
Ernie!, The present team seemed rather the worse for wear, and was
once again using the Triangular method, a method that has yet to
gain a top three ranking

Tower Inferno were making
great progress with a tidy solid tower, could a team of new comers take
the title? (Although the team member to the right seems a little
concerned, does he know something we don't?)

French farce announced that
they had changed their name to French Connection (was this a move of
confidence) Well their tower was well under way and using the classic
Stockdale pylon method. This team will take some beating

Weenies Wobbles seem a little
to confident with their tower taking it to ground level for the final
height assault especially with what looks like a case of Melt Down (every
S & JB builders nightmare) on level two.

Praying will not help these
help-less builders as the Melt Down takes a turn for the worse

This is not a sight anyone
connected with S & JB building likes to see the remains of a seemingly
solid structure ravaged by Melt Down in one of the babies (and they were
Bassets before you pros start asking questions) perhaps built to
near a radiator for comfort!

Here we have quite a
remarkable happening it seems that Wobbly Bottoms have totally
ignored the start time and more interested in chips can these people be
serious S& JB competitors?

In the mean time Woods Wonders
have gained a team member, but to be honest no one who knows the ins and
outs of S & JB building would give this structure a second look,
unless for the amusement factor! "it has to hold the weight of an egg
not a feather lads.

General Franco seems to have
built a reasonable tower but does he know that he has to balance an egg on
top? could be interesting

A nice shot (one of my
personal favorites)of S & JB tower building with French
Connection in the foreground Tower Inferno in the back ground both now
using chairs to finalize there towers.
Oh what do we see in the
middle? It seems as Woods Wonders triangular method has crumbled and team
member Ernie has arrived finally to try and create a tower with little
time left

Tower inferno are now racing
ahead with their tower, but the concern of a team member earlier could be
confirmed. Do they have a case of melt down in layer two?

Well the "chip
eaters" Wobbly Bottoms does that say something? have gone all out and
created a monster, the egg man taking a first measurement, but team
member Sally has an anxious look on her face. Could this be the first case
of Spaghetti Buckle (not nice) this evening

Towering Inferno
MELTDOWN
in layer two how many time
do we see this occur

Wobbly Bottoms
SPAGHETTI BUCKLE
after a successful first
measure at 97.5cm went on only to see team members Sally concerns
confirmed in a spectacular Spaghetti Buckle, with egg still on
board....... Unlucky

The Boat Builders
who had been building
away quietly in the corner of the bar have managed, well what can I say a
successful tower of 67.5 cm. I must say though that Boat Builders Jan and
Pam both look a little surprised at their success. Hardly any wonder

Woods Wonders
Well its a bit higher than
the remainder of their first effort (just to the right) 26cm
Tournament organizer Mr. M
Williams had this to say about Woods Wonders
" I think that
their entry into next year event will have to scrutinized. This after all
is not just a bit of fun. People spend a lot of their own time preparing
for the event and we don't want it spoilt by this sort behavior"
Meanwhile
Tower Inferno try to regain some S & JB building pride, but with
little time left have to resort to the Separates Method, again a method
that is not really taken seriously in S & JB Building world. but it
quite quick

The French Connection making
final adjustments before laying the egg.... Will it Stand?

Truly Breathtaking Stuff
"Call the egg
man"

The Egg man takes measurement
and announces a very credible
